Oh god lots.

The compere at the outside circus stage.

Neil Young.

Sunday night stumbling across the Village Disco then Pronghorn and having a bit of a stomp.

Rolf.

Managing to meet up with so many people.

Inappropriate pissing, especially Em's Piss Bucket.

Nearly setting fire to the campsite was not a highlight though.
sadwitch
do you know I'd actually blanked that out and forgotton it completely. For those who don't know Alice nearly burnt us all to death on saturday morning.
Dave
It was a really great festival. Hot, hot, hot.

Still too broken to think properly but enjoyed Neil Young too.

Keep on rocking in the free World!!

Dizzee was Bonkers too.

Utterly, totally, 100% broken by the end though and in need of feathers and bubbles.

µ
Dizzee sending us bonkers

Neil actual fucking Young

Going completely mental to Madness with total strangers

The kindness of strangers

Rolf

Colin

Camp Trash

Murray Mint vodka

Man, really, just all of it, it was totally brilliant, but Jesus my legs hurt!
Olivia
In order:
  • Dreadzone
  • The Pissy Bins & Doves - before I wasn't too spannered to be in the JP tent and had to leave - & my accidental night off the wagon (thanks to Lori & Riles for helping me along with that)
  • My Saturday morning/afternoon in the Cabaret Tent, where I saw some ace stuff including the Morning Report
  • PIE
  • Ambling Sunday
  • Blur and the crying that followed
  • All of my lovely friends

All-in-all, a very lovely weekend and just what I needed. smile.gif
ali-cat
Sunburn, Camp Trash, Madness, Blur, teaching George how to dance to Madness, Guilty Pleasures, Becks and her singing about Daniel and the beary weirdy song, generally being loud and offensive in Adams Towers most evenings.

Once again I left wishing I seen more things and that we'd not got rained on in Shangri-La on Sunday night but I left with a smile on my face and packing/leaving wasn't too traumatic at all.
venusvibetrap
Blur, Streets, Lamb, the kids and us dancing like loons to Pendulum and Madness.

Sunshine.

Watching the thunder storms over the tor.

More to come when i think of them.
chimp
Highights.
Dizzee was amazing.
Pendulum was just nuts, I also outraved the teenagers around me and am now respected far and wide by the young posse.
Blur were ok but then I left to catch the end of Prodigy who were mental in a great way, although the sound at the other stage was not good.
Meeting Will Young, what a bloody lovely, well spoken young man.
Random bumping into Mr and Mrs MU, super!
Crying to Madness.
The red ice cream van.
Chilling in the park.
Talking to a mental bloke in Trash city for ages about bollocks.
Finding random stuff, a brilliant band who were on late in the Crown, don't know their name, blue kings or something like that.
Watching wurzelesque bands, the Lancashire hotpots and a dorset version who's name I cannot remember.
Silent disco and wandering with the teenager until sunrise. Quality time.
Plus loads more. biggrin.gif Best Glasto ever, so I glad I went. Yeah yeah I know. rolleyes.gif

Lowlights
The 5 hours it took us to get out of the car park after we left Sunday night, teaching after a Glasto weekend of no more than 8 hours sleep was tough.
Finding camp Becks, seeing Reubs and Hurl monged out in chairs but I couldn't stop as was running through campsites with emergency plasters and knew if I stopped I wouldn't get back to my mate, I dropped off plasters, went back and everyone had left. sad.gif

Hurrah, yet another convert. They are called The King Blues and they are officially the best band in the world. Took Greg and Tim to see them at Avalon on Saturday afternoon and they both were blown away with how fantastic it all was. I am dead proud of my boys.

I'm struggling to piece together every last moment of the weekend but some highlights included:

Finally making it up to the top of the hill above The Park. It was so peaceful, a wonderful place for 2 Marlboro Menthols.
Watching the thunderstorm roll across the valley with family MenaceVibetrap, kept dry by the gazebo, love and shit loads of fags, drugs and booze.
Finally learning to enjoy pear cider.
Dreadzone
Lily
The Specials (but no Enjoy Yourself as last tune? Rubbish).
The Streets (ditto no Fit But You Know It). Billie Jean was good though, and I'm going to think about taking up Eden's non-smoking tips. A few fags first though.
Late night back at Camp Trash on Friday.
The aforementioned Greatest Band In The World
Um, what I else did I do on Saturday?
Visit to the chateau in Dragon Field.
Brooooooce seen through closed eyes.
Another visit back to the chateau followed by a night spent in Shangri-La. Strawberry cocktails, hanging on to Becks for support and finger dancing to some filthy drum & bass.
Another year of walking to the dance village to miss RDB (minus falling and piss this year)
Blur
Finally getting some kip (sans snoring obv) on Sunday night.

All in all, twas a very very good one I think.

Oh. and Chimp. Both my flatmate and I need further clarification of the plaster-fuelled engagement. We both don't seem to be doing the remembering game quite so well I fear. sad.gif

chimp
Oh you won't remember my loveys, I was literally running through the tents doing my impression of a Casualty paramedic and I glanced over and saw you guys. I was camped just over the path from you so thought I wouldn't stop then as I would want to stay and yap but would run back with the plasters and then come back. I was literally 5 minutes but by the time I got back no one was there.
It was Sunday night and you lot were camped with other stage to your right and dance village to your left yes? It was about 8.30pm ish.

Anyway, I was gutted to have missed you all and wished I had let my friend bleed to death on her can of Fosters. sad.gif

That band were fucking awesome! Awesome is my new word.

Oh, I also saw The Streets, they were also awesome.
soliphant
So can this one rightly be said to be the 'best one yet?'

They did play it but quite early on.

Soliphant - not my best, but it was really rather good, the sunshine definately helped.

But it did get a "bit fucking HOT" at times!

Ratbags. Didn't he know I had to wait until the end of The Specials to hear Enjoy Yourself? Which they then proceded not to play.

As for the best ever question? Not quite but pretty damn close. Just been looking at the ariel photo picture in the Q mag and there was so much I didn't get close to seeing/spending enough time at. And if it hadn't been wet on Thursday night/Friday morning I'm sure I'd have seen more. But whatever I saw, it was a brill weekend.

Now that is a fantastic photo. Wheres it from?
sadwitch
I don't know if it was the best one yet but it was one of the most fun yet. I laughed hysterically for much of every day.

I always forget how fun it is and also how bloody hard it is too.
menace
Hmm.

Blur. wub.gif

Madness.

Gibberish at Camp Trash.

Free beer and talking at the MUs in Trash City.

It not being 'A wet year'.

Not feeling like death upon arriving home.

Not losing either of the kids and working out that they will both be running away to join the circus at a young age.

Erm, theres bound to be loads more that will come back to me in fits and starts, as soon as the dreams go away. ph34r.gif
Sonny
My young friend who camped with us, breakfast brought to the tent every morning, water carriers filled, Sonny removal from gazebo area when thought appropriate. I absolutely love him and have become his stalker. He did everything, went everywhere and saw everything. Oh, the energy of youth

Blur. Not my favourite band but blew my mind and I had a bit of a grizzle to the 'it looks like we might have made it' one.

Toffee Apple cider, the only palatable form of cider.

Drinks with some of you in the sun on Wednesday

Drinks with some of you in the dark on Thursday

Specials, complete with a quick Terry 'livener'

Madness, always good fun

Doing the Trash City area with Ging on one of the nights, saw some excellent stuff with the love of my life. An APB was put out on me though, I'd been away from the camping area for more than an hour.

Sure there are many more but it's coming back to me gradually.

PS fucking chairs in mosh pits and fucking rugby on the screen when I'm trying to get a pint

At least she will have stopped trying to put anything and everything she finds in her mouth by then.

I'm going next year if it kills me, which I fear it may. biggrin.gif

Some gorgeous photos
Olivia
They are amazing, especially the aerial shot which actually shows [almost] the whole site. And I can see our tents! Bottom right-middle-ish of this one, just to the right of the mini-tipi thing:

ali-cat
I forgot We Are Klang in the Cabaret Tent on on Saturday night. Possibly the funniest and most offensive act I've seen in a long time. They had a whole song about being a Jew and were made up of a fat Giles from Buffy, the poor man's David Baddiel and a Simon Pegg lookalike.

It was fine, different but fine. Theres loads of stuff to amuse them and we didn't do half of it, as our two discovered that showing off their circus skills to pretty ladies while we saw what we wanted to see was quite fun.

Erm, 18 month olds do walk a bit, but they tire out fairly quickly and can be persuaded into a nice comfy buggy with a biscuit or banana if you want to have a good wander. I think anyway, my memory is a bit rubbish and I'm a shit parent.

Get a decent 3 wheeler with big pneumatic tyres, or we saw some pushchairs that looked a bit like the baby bike trailers with enormous wheels that seemed to cope well with the bit of mud that we did have. I also saw a pop up shelter tent thing which might be a good idea if you want to stay by a stage for a while.

You will take loads of stuff, about 75% of which will be for the child, 20% will be your booze allowance and the rest will be unimportant things like your clothes.

In no particlular order;

The Whip
Pendulum
Lamb
Ray Davies
Blur
Tom Jones

I thoroughly enjoyed the company and meeting friends. I can't quite work out how I avoided the dance village this year.

Would've been even better if the people next to us, hadn't found their mates and talked loudly through both Gabriel & Gorecki. sad.gif

It all seems to have happened in one massive blur. There were hugs, lezzing, music, Sonny & Ging surprise party, the Chateau, tears, Bruce, The Streets, Andrew Hill, the longdrops, surprise clean loos, loads but my best were us all being together.

I say best but my 3 new boyfriends are awesome. Well, two of them are really great and the other really was Ben's friend. Matt the carpenter is my number 1 and Ben who thinks I'm hot was himself hot. It could have been all the drugs though.

That'll be Brooooooooce then.

I'm still in the 'it's all a massive blur' state as well. I think my problem is I'm trying to piece it all together hour by hour, day by day. For example, Wednesday afternoon onwards, any idea anyone? I know we went to Jazz for some Pear but after that the mind is a bit blank. Thursday afternoon was up at The Park wasn't it? Or was that Wednesday? And what about Thursday night. Oh I don't know.

The one thing I'll take with me more than anything is just incredible Shangri La was this year. All those tunnels and walkways leading off to little venues and stuff. Just mind-boggling, the amount of small detail that was put into all.

Olivia
I am definitely going to go to Shangri-La next year. And the Dance Village when it's dark.
becks
Don't lets forget the Rangy cocktail party. And, and, the enormous effort of walk we did. And the woman with the bazookahorn who was hateful & deserved to be invisible in her stupid zebra. I remember beautiful rastamen on our walk home who asked us if we were ok.

Aww.
becks
Reuben just reminded me of Pete!

Aww, the half a foot buffalo.

Definitely yes. Or maybe no. I thought the main meet at Jazz was on Wednesday for some reason. I do remember lots of smiling people if that helps?

Hurlage - Thursday afternoon was shouting in the park. No idea what you did on Wednesday or on Thursday evening though!

What happened is we all got bolloxed, and I left not long after (think it was about 4.30/5) cos I needed to be back in my own bed. It was very nice of you to offer but I needed my own comforts. It only took me half an hour or so to walk back and it was very peaceful. smile.gif

They were mostly together in the first place as far as I can make out. Most of them had got wankered and wandered off by the time I got there.
sadwitch
We met up on wednesday eve and then went to hear Hurlage's anecdote. it pissed it down thursday eve at the proposed meet time so we assumed everyone had sacked it off though we did swing by later to round up some of the pub quiz troupe and there was no one around. After that there are some missing hours until the silent disco.

We met at the band stand on Wednesday smile.gif well at least some of us did.

Live Blur are all about the punky energy but it's the ballads that really spine-tingle my lingle. And seeing the whole field with its hand in the air singing the chorus to The Universal was sodding brilliant, and very moving. It really really did happen etc etc.

Or maybe I was just off me nut.
